I am participating in Green Life to promote a healthier campus. I want to reduce the smoking on campus to designated areas so that those of us who don't want to inhale it don't have too. As of right now people tend to smoke right outside the doors to the campus buildings forcing everyone to walk through a cloud of smoke to go inside. I want to put up tents around campus for students and teachers to smoke in. These tents would follow the 30 ft. rule allowing for cleaner air outside the buildings. I also want to put plenty of places to put the cigarettes once they are done to prevent littering. This is going to allow for cleaner air and a cleaner campus!

Public Discourse

I had display of Public Discourse one day in my English class. The possibility of our Spring Fest getting canceled was a subject brought up by one of my peers. They thought that if Spring Fest was cancelled that the athletics should be cancelled also. Being a former USI cheerleader I strongly disagreed with him. He is prejudice against athletes because he has the impression they think they are better than everyone else. I brought up the fact that my best friend and I are cheerleaders and asked if he thought we contained these qualities as athletes. He automatically attacked me saying we are not athletes and the hardest thing we do is apply our makeup everyday. I was automatically offended and began arguing my opinion. We do harder things than some sports do and apply just as much effort. Cheerleading has more head injuries than any other sport and we compete. USI Cheerleaders provide our own funds for our activities and purchases and do not receive any money from the school. This is another reason I disagreed with the athletics getting cancelled. He continued attacking me throughout the class as my best friend backed up everything I had to say. This is a topic I have a strong opinion on and I will express it freely.

The Green Family

Throughout the past couple of weeks I have been exploring many different blogs in search of one that interested me. It was not until the other day that I discovered the Green family. This is a blog of a family of 4 with one on the way and their everyday adventures. The blogger gave pictures of each child and described each of their like and interests. The layout of this blog is what first caught my eye. It was very colorful, full of pictures and well organized.

The purpose of this blog was to post about their everyday adventures almost like a diary. I saw the purpose of this blog as being a diary for her to look back on. This post contains different stories with unique titles and pictures to go along with the plot. For example, she wrote about their first experience inside a police car after getting in a small finder binder. She included a picture of the inside of the police car and details of what happened.

I will indeed check up on this blog because I am interested to hear about her pregnancy. She has two little boys and a baby on the way. She has a small section of the blog showing how many days until she gives birth and what stage the baby is in. This is what most interested me because I am going to school to become a labor and delivery NP.

I saw the main message of the Green family blog to express that family is very important in your life. They are all very involved in their family and spend a lot of time together. I felt as if I had much in common with this blogger because I enjoy spending time with my family too although I do not have one of my own yet. This blogger also gave me a few ideas of what I want my blog to look like.
